Our 8th Annual Community Shred Event powered by Okanagan Paper Shredding is scheduled for May 4th, 2024. Last year we filled the truck with your outdated and sensitive documents, raising $2950 for Crime Stoppers. The money raised helps to pay out rewards for successful tips. Okanagan Paper Shredding shredded 329 banker boxes of paper, which equates to about 3,230 kg.
Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers held a "Make Bail" fundraising event on April 14th where six members of the local community were "arrested" and had to "make bail" in order to be released. We would like to thank the following arrestees:
Councillor Loyal Wooldridge
Councillor Ron Cannon
Councillor Gordon Lovegrove
Aiden Myhre – Licensed Listing Manager with Jane Hoffman Realty
Jason Pace – Branch Manager with Glenmore Interior Savings
Robyn Boffy – Security Manager at UBCO
As you can see in the photos, our good-natured arrestees were furiously texting and phoning friends and co-workers to help them make bail. They raised an astonishing (almost) $12,000, which far surpassed our expectations and we could not be happier! Funds raised are used for paying rewards and program awareness.
The Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers Society is always looking for community-minded individuals to join the board or volunteer at community events.
