RCMP received a call on the morning of Sunday, October 5th, 2019, from the organizer of a local Scarecrow family festival taking place that day in a Rutland park.   A U-Haul truck was loaded with supplies and ready for the morning, parked tight against the Uptown Rutland offices located on Valley Road.  Staff arrived to find that someone had cut the lock on the truck and taken the supplies, many of them donated.   Thieves made off with two borrowed 10X10’ canopy tents in wheeled black canvas storage bags (Argus and Interior Savings logos on the tents), a $270 face painting kit, high-density sponges, a red and white cooler, four flats of Sunrype juice and two flats of water bottles.  They also stole the Scarecrow’s clothing; 75 pairs of pants, 50 shirts and 50 sweatshirts.
